Effective Device Management for Internet of Things
D.Jeevani, M.Balajee

Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the next wave of innovation that helps us in enhancing our daily life. The paradigm of the Internet of Things (IoT) requires pervasive connectivity to billions of heterogeneous devices. Device management allows equipment manufacturers to monitor and manage remote equipment, systems, and products through the Internet, and in some cases remotely control these devices. However, due to the inherent heterogeneity, home environment is becoming complex making device management extremely difficult. Managing such a large scale device network is challenging, it is not possible to configure and deploy devices manually. To manage these increasing disparate devices and connectivity options, ETSI has specified end-to-end machine-to-machine (M2M) system architecture for IoT applications. Based on this architecture, IoT Easy Connect system has been developed to manage IoT devices. According to the relationships between IoT devices, social network theory is applied to model IoT services in different dimensions. Device management principles include scale and automation, openness and compatibility, context awareness and services. IoT device management proposes a framework for smart home services. IoT device management helps us turn that data into the insight according to our requirement to develop new products and services
