Abstract:
Radical writers are significant writers who write fearlessly on rare issues, themes, which characterise their society. The mere writers are the otherwise, as they write rather for politics, money, financial/self aggrandisement, propaganda, favour or thereabout, with fear, thus concealing truth, painting reality. It is quite unfortunate that corrupt societies of contemporary times mostly tend to undermine the radical writers, dab them variously, disregard their messages and even hunt them for criticising cum exposing unscrupulous society members/leaders and the ills of the society- the truth about what they write. This work scholarly x-rays the central themes of Dibies’s ‘Flowerless Rose,’ which depicts the envisaged role of radical writers in reorienting and repositioning their polluted society. The text portrays and repels against corruption, do-or-die politics, laziness, worthless (wayward) campus life and declined socio-cultural norms and values. The need for this work is to stress the salient issues portrayed in the text towards attaining a better society through the writer, Dibie, and as well prevails on writers to be objective, sincere, radical, fearless, versatile, realistic and significant in contributing to the society by causing new world order. It relied on intuition, participant observation and print library materials, using text-content analysis and objective and qualitative approach. It concludes that any writers who do not write objectively and fearlessly are not worthwhile writers. Political writers of these days are fond of concealing truth as they write for fear or favour. It calls on writers to be radical in writing so as to affect a new world order in the society.
