Abstract:
The goal of this paper is to highlight the steps taken to design the digital library of the center of Excellence in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims also at illustrating the stages required for the business case and explain it step by step. The role of the business case is to insure the successful adoption of a digital library project and considered to be a crucial component that can be used and applied as guiding principle for digital library projects. The design of this paper is based on different tools such as personal readings of intellectual production, literature review, experience, and the insights of other researchers and experts in the scope of digital libraries. The author used theory and practice from information technology in various organizations and develop a methodology that can be applied for developing a successful business case intended for developing the digital library of the center of Excellence in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This paper going beyond the obvious and adds new information and deepens understanding of a significant issue. It fills the gap in the digital library projects by highlighting the steps required for the process of developing business cases for digital library projects. The paper reveals that effective adoption of business case for developing digital library projects will encourage organizations and institutions to creating and implementing digital library projects with ease.
