Abstract:
This work presents the results in the re-refining or regeneration of used engine oil. To remove the aromatics in the used oil, we have done acidification to the used oil. And to improve the colour and quality of the used engine oil, bleaching is done using activated carbon as bleaching agent. The analysis includes comparison of some properties such as viscosity, density, specific gravity, flash point, fire point, total acid number with that to fresh oil and used engine oil. Our experiment results in producing a better quality regenerated engine oil with specific gravity 0.912 and viscosity 0.5316 Poise where used oil has specific gravity 0.899 and viscosity 0.190 Poise and fresh oil has specific gravity 0.849 and viscosity 0.1389 Poise
