The Impact of the Implementation of Free Education Policy on Secondary Education in Tanzania
Yusuph Lameck Mashala

Abstract:
This study intends to analyze the impact of the implementation of the Free Education Policy on Secondary Education in Tanzania. The study collected secondary data from ministries and other government institutions. Data were statistically analyzed and presented. Four assumptions related to enrollment rate, number of teachers, students pass rates and dropout rates guided data collection, presentation, and discussion. The findings demonstrate that the government decision to implement free secondary education policy on secondary education is the wisest one. However, since its inception in 2015, the Free Education Policy in many areas has found to have a slight impact on secondary education in Tanzania. The study, however, informs the government to put more efforts to effectively implement the promises of the policy without compromising the quality of education
