Abstract:
The seeming fear of the cost of procuring new technology and training employees on its usage which delayed adaptation of technology triggered this study to explore the type of relationship that exist between technological adaptation and customer retention of plastic manufacturing firms in Enugu State. The study was anchored on Michael Porter’s Competitive Advantage Theory developed in (1980). Correlation Research Design was adopted for the study. Two plastic firms were selected and the population of the study was ninety-six (96). Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient was used to analyze the data. It was deduced that technology adaptation has significant positive relationship with customer retention of the selected manufacturing firms in Enugu State. Therefore, the study recommended among other things, that firms should be ready to adapt and evolve to new technology in order to provide more effective and efficient output which will aid in retaining customers.
