In vitro Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities of Pyracantha coccinea Fruits Ethanol Extract

Abstract:
This study aims to observe the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of ethanol extract from the fruits of Pyracantha coccinea. Antimicrobial activity was tested against 45 bacteria and 3 yeasts by disk diffusion method and antioxidant activity was tested by the DPPH method. The results of this study showed that ethanol extract of fruits exhibited antimicrobial activity against various strains tested, especially against Gram-positive bacteria; Bacillus cereus, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus warneri, and Staphylococcus aureus.
