Hydrothermal Synthesis and Precipitation of Calcium Hydroxyapatite with Layer's Chicken Biogenic Eggshells.

Abstract:
Natural waste materials are important resources for the extraction and recuperation of valuable compounds. Specific techniques and approaches are required to transform these waste materials into valuable materials. Eggshell is a rich CaCO3 source with a high purity content of more than 96.35%w/w and potential raw material for the preparation of calcium hydroxyapatite. Mesoporous Calcium hydroxyapatite was prepared through orthophosphoric acid with hydrothermally pretreated of chicken(layers) eggshell followed by 120minute calcinations time at 1200 °C. The yield of 96.41% hydroxyapatite that was characterized by FT-IR declared the eggshell as a direct natural (Biogenic)feedstock for calcium hydroxyapatite production that will be suitable for use in various bio-applications such as, bone tissue engineering, drug and gene delivery, toothpaste remineralizing agent, orthopedic and restorative bone void fillers.
