Abstract:
Hydranencephaly is a rare congenital brain malformation, which manifests itself by the absence of development of the cerebral hemispheres and their replacement by cerebrospinal fluid (1). We report a case of antenatal diagnosis of hydranencephaly made by obstetrical ultrasound at 32 weeks of amenorrhoea. A first-degree consanguineous marriage was noted. The examination of the newborn showed a macrocrania and the diagnosis was confirmed by a brain scan. The therapeutic choices remained limited to treatments including a cerebrospinal fluid diversion.
