Abstract:
Background: A cough is a critical defensive reflex that improves clearance of secretions and particulates from the airways and protects against aspiration of foreign materials caused by aspiration or inhalation of particulate matter, pathogens, accumulated secretions, postnasal drip, inflammation, and mediators. In this paper will demonstrate an expert system capable of quickly diagnosing a patient's condition and recommending a suitable solution to the problem. The SL5 Object language was used to design and implement this expert system. A group of physicians tested this expert system and discovered it to be a useful tool that assists physicians and patients suffering from cough senses problems.
