Abstract:
The role of pesantren has actually made a very strong contribution in instilling character education in students. Islamic boarding schools have been able to play a role in shaping the character of students who are supported by the presence of a central figure, namely a kiai. The role of a kiai in producing students with noble character. The role of pesantren in character education is pesantren as guardians and custodians of religious values; Pesantren as an innovator of religious understanding; and as an inspiration, motivator, and dynamist for the implementation of development at the local and regional levels
