Abstract:
Cystic lymphangioma is a rare malformative benign tumor of the lymphatic vessels in various locations. The retroperitoneal localization is less frequent compared to the mesenteric or cervical one. Its clinical presentation is polymorphic depending on its location. The diagnosis is suggested by imaging but requires histological confirmation. The treatment of choice is surgery. We report a case of a 20-year-old parturient, without notable pathological ATCDS, admitted to our training (maternity emergencies) for management of a prolapsed cord in a full-term pregnancy in labor with intraoperative discovery of a giant retroperitoneal mass, imaging was performed postoperatively showing a retroperitoneal cystic lymphangioma. Cystic lymphangioma with retroperitoneal location is a rare condition; its therapeutic management is based on complete excision if possible because the tumor sometimes adheres to the large vessels. The recurrence of this tumor remains possible.
