Abstract:
Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) is a highly vascularized gynecologic malignancy associated with heavy bleeding. Bleeding due to GTN can be very difficult to control, due to the proliferation of the tumor and its myometrial invasion. Selective arterial embolization (SAE) is widely used for the control of life-threatening bleeding. We report the case of a young patient who was hospitalized for management of a gestational trophoblastic tumor and presented with a fulminant hemorrhage that was controlled by selective arterial embolization.
