Abstract:
This article focuses on "ECOWAS' challenges in managing the conflict in Niger". Our work is based on a survey conducted among the Niger community following the coup d'état against President Bazoum and the management of the conflict initiated by ECOWAS. It is based on the following observation: ECOWAS' communication has failed in the management of the conflict. The study then proposes to explore the challenges of so-called conflict management. We mainly use the bidirectional communication theory of the Alto Polo school. We use Schramm's model of communication and Laswell's schema to describe the theory. What are the causes of the conflict in Niger? What strategies does ECOWAS use to manage the conflict? What are some suggestions for effectively managing the coup conflict? At the end of our research, it appears that the ECOWAS conflict management strategy is not accepted by the community and worsens the situation. The results also show that the institution's discourse is dominated by threats and injunctions. That said, his communication is out of step with reality. Also, that the diplomats or specialists of the institution are those in charge of conflict resolution. If it is known that there are no consequences without causes, let ECOWAS also address the causes. ECOWAS is in danger of disappearing if its conflict management strategy does not change.
