Abstract:
This study addresses the problem of quality in court interpreting through the lens of stakeholders. It aims at identifying the stakeholders involved, examining their needs, and determining their perception with regard to the quality of the interpretation offered to them. To attain its objectives, the study adopted the mixed research approach of data collection and analysis and is underpinned by the stakeholder theory developed by Edward Freeman. The findings revealed that the stakeholders concerned by quality in court interpreting encompass various actors, within the judicial system, interpreters themselves, as well as external parties such as litigants etc. Moreover, the study highlighted that stakeholders have diverse needs. However, courts fall short of adequately meeting these needs, raising concerns regarding the quality of the interpretation. Furthermore, it's worth noting that stakeholders have different perceptions of the quality of interpretation, although it is generally considered satisfactory.
