Abstract:
Biliobronchial fistula (BBF) is a condition defined by abnormal communication between the bile ducts and the bronchial tree. If in the Western world, most of the cases reported are secondary to hepatobiliary trauma, liver resection surgery or in the context of a congenital disease with malformation of the bile duct, in developing countries, FBB is recognized as being a complication of a certain number of infectious pathologies such as hydatidosis and hepatic amoebiasis. Among the etiologies cited, FBB of hydatid origin is by far the most common, particularly in hydatid endemic areas such as Morocco. Mortality from this condition reaches 50%; its reputedly poor prognosis, linked to biliary damage and the possibilities of repair, was disrupted by the introduction of endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreaticography (ERCP) into the therapeutic arsenal and the preparation of the surgical procedure.
