Abstract:
Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare tumor that typically develops in the head and neck region. Mediastinal localization of extramedullary plasmacytomas(EMP) is uncommon , and cardiac invasion is exceptionally rare. We present the case of a 62 year old patient, with a history of treated pulmonary tuberculosis thirty years ago and chronic smoking cessation for two years ,the patient has consulted for stage III dyspnoea persisting for 3 months. Investigations revealed a cardiac mass, and further examination indicated a mediastino-pulmonary tissue process invading the inferior vena cava and the right atrium. Biopsy confirmed an extra medullary plasmacytoma, associated with authentic multiple myeloma. Treatment protocol was polychemotherapy with a very good partial response .
