Abstract:
NUT midline carcinoma (NMC) is a rare, genetically defined, highly lethal undifferentiated carcinoma that occurs in the midline of the neck, head, or mediastinum. We report the case of a 34-year-old man who was diagnosed with locally advanced mediastinal malignancy. However, immunohistochemical pathology ruled out the diagnosis of germ cell tumor (negative marker AFP BHCG) and confirmed the diagnosis of poorly differentiated carcinoma. Despite aggressive treatment, development was characterized by rapid clinical deterioration leading to death within 3 months of initial diagnosis. We report this case to highlight the rarity, clinicoradiologic and pathological features, therapeutic management, and prognosis of this disease
