Abstract:
Velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord, occurring in approximately in 2% of singleton, 7% of dichorionic (DC) twin and 12% of MC twin pregnancies, is linked to various obstetric complications such as fetal growth restriction, prematurity, congenital anomalies, low Apgar scores, fetal bleeding, and retained placenta. We report a case of velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord in a twin pregnancy, incidentally discovered after placental delivery.
