Abstract:
This study examines the influence of transformational leadership on innovation from a theoretical standpoint. The objectives of the study were to investigate the influence of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration on innovation. The study reviewed empirical studies on transformational leadership and innovation from wealth of literature. The findings suggest that idealized influence significantly influences innovation by inspiring and motivating followers to innovate. Inspirational motivation also significantly influences innovation by motivating followers to pursue innovative ideas. Intellectual stimulation has a significant influence on innovation by enhancing followers' innovative thinking skills. Individualized consideration significantly influences innovation by empowering followers to contribute innovative ideas. The study concludes that transformational leadership influence innovation. Hence, the study recommends that leaders should focus on building trust and credibility, communicate a compelling vision, promote intellectual stimulation, and provide personalized support to enhance innovation. These findings contribute to the understanding of the complex relationship between transformational leadership and innovation and provide practical insights for organizations seeking to foster a culture of innovation. The study claim that further research could explore mediating and moderating factors that influence this relationship and inform more effective leadership strategies for fostering innovation.
