Abstract:
As a result of the transformative strides of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in different sectors such as health care, automobile and others, this study was necessitated to examine areas where AI can be used in the education sector in Anambra state to leapfrog the sector's performance. Specifically, the study sought to ascertain the extent of the application of AI in public secondary schools in Anambra State, identify the prospects of AI adoption in teaching and learning in secondary schools in Anambra State and identify the challenges facing public secondary schools in the adoption of AI in Anambra State. A thorough literature review was done to explain what AI is conceptually. The transformational capabilities of AI in the education sector were also looked at along with the challenges facing the adoption of AI in the education sector. The study concluded that if AI is adopted in the right way, it could revolutionize operations in secondary schools in Anambra state, bridging the times and space gap, making for personalized learning capabilities and tracking of students' processes. The study, therefore, among others recommended that the secondary schools in Anambra State need to prioritize the enhancement of technical infrastructure, encompassing high-speed internet connectivity and access to computers and AI tools, as all these will be AI adoption processes seamless.
