Abstract:
This study examines the implementation of curriculum content and the functionality of pre-service teachers in colleges of education in Oyo State, Nigeria. Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, the study aims to assess the adequacy of curriculum implementation and explore the relationship between curriculum execution and the effectiveness of pre-service teachers. A total of 750 participants were selected through a multi-stage sampling procedure, comprising students from one federal and two state colleges of education. Data collection was conducted using structured questionnaires administered by trained research assistants. The findings reveal a high level of functionality among pre-service teachers, indicating that their pedagogical styles significantly influence student learning outcomes. Furthermore, a positive correlation was established between the implementation of curriculum content and the functionality of pre-service teachers, suggesting that effective curriculum execution enhances teaching performance. The study underscores the need for continuous evaluation and improvement of curriculum implementation in teacher education programmes to foster better educational outcomes. Recommendations for policy enhancements and further research are proposed to address the identified gaps in curriculum delivery and teacher effectiveness.
