Abstract:
The research topic of this paper is the relationship between child abuse and adolescent violence in Kamwokya community, Kampala Central Division. As it is identified in the study, elements such as physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and influence violent behaviors among youths. The socio economic conditions highlighted within this research show that poor economic status complained in Kamwokya area is inversely related with health standards of education, and shortage of social amenities hence poor youths' psychological and emotional health. The study also suggests that first offenders in the community, who are trafficked as abused individuals, become involved in acts of violence and thus continue violence in society. The paper also discusses ideas about the prevention strategies and interventions to thwart the effects of childhood abuse and reduce violent tendency among youths, including those at community level, for support services, youth programs and policy reforms. Thereby, the researchers seek to stockpile data that could be useful in designing future campaigns as well as interventions to reduce the incidence of youth violence in Kamwokya.
