Abstract:
Gender diversity in leadership has garnered increasing attention in organizational research and practice due to its profound implications for organizational performance and social equity. This study investigates the barriers to women's advancement in leadership roles and explores strategies for promoting gender diversity and inclusion in organizational leadership. Employing a mixed-methods research design, data were collected through surveys and interviews with a diverse sample of participants from various industries and organizational levels. Analysis of the data revealed several key findings, including the persistent underrepresentation of women in senior leadership positions, the prevalence of unconscious biases and systemic barriers in recruitment and promotion processes, and the importance of mentorship and sponsorship in facilitating women's career advancement. Additionally, intersectional discrimination emerged as a significant factor exacerbating gender disparities in leadership, highlighting the need for tailored interventions to address the intersecting identities and experiences of women from diverse backgrounds. The findings of this study underscore the importance of proactive measures, inclusive practices, and systemic change in promoting gender diversity and fostering equitable leadership cultures. By recognizing the unique challenges faced by women in leadership and implementing evidence-based strategies, organizations can create more inclusive and innovative environments that leverage the full potential of diverse talent and drive sustainable business success.
