Abstract:
This study examines cultural economics in Banyuwangi, specifically focusing on two traditional markets: Pasar Koelon Tangsi in Genteng Kulon Village and Pasar Wit-Witan in Alasmalang Village. Banyuwangi, with a historical background rooted in the Blambangan Kingdom, is a multicultural region predominantly inhabited by the Osing community, which continues to preserve its identity. However, there is a gap in government support for the Osing arts and traditions center compared to peripheral communities. This research employs a qualitative ethnographic method with purposive sampling, collecting data through interviews, observations, and document studies. Findings reveal that the hybrid tourist markets of Wit-Witan and Koelon Tangsi in Banyuwangi offer innovative cultural tourism experiences. Pasar Wit-Witan has successfully integrated traditional elements with local community management, while Pasar Koelon Tangsi contributes to preserving Banyuwangi's cultural heritage. Both markets utilize digital technology to enhance interactivity and provide education on local culture. It is hoped that these markets can support local economic growth while maintaining the sustainability of Banyuwangi's cultural heritage.
