Abstract:
The advancement of information technology from time to time has experienced very rapid development, one of which is the use of online platforms, including in shopping activities through e-commerce. Shopee and Tokopedia are the two most popular e-commerce platforms in Indonesia, Shopee recorded 190.7 million visits while Tokopedia 147.7 million visits in August 2022. This study aims to spread the influence of differences in the user interface (User Interface / UI) between Shopee and Tokopedia on user experience and purchasing decisions, using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. This study found that Shopee has a more intuitive and easy-to-use layout than Tokopedia. Shopee users feel more comfortable and do not need help to navigate and make transactions. In contrast, Tokopedia users have difficulty with the poor layout, especially in the e-commerce transaction section, which causes confusion when making transactions. This study provides insight for both platforms to improve the quality of their user interfaces which aim to increase user satisfaction and purchasing decisions. The results of this study are expected to help develop a more effective strategy in optimizing UI / UX on e-commerce platforms.
