Abstract:
This paper explores the traditional methods employed in the conservation of wooden objects, emphasizing their historical significance and effectiveness. Drawing on the theory of traditional knowledge systems (TKSs), and historical approach, the study examines the intricate processes involved in preserving wooden artefacts, with emphasis on factors such as material compatibility, environmental conditions, and cultural context. The paper argues that while modern conservation strategies are relevant, traditional methods of object conservation cannot be underestimated. It demonstrates that preserving these artefacts requires a nuanced understanding of traditional conservation methods that have evolved over time. By shedding light on these traditional conservation practices, this research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of sustainable approaches to wooden object conservation. It highlights that wooden objects stand as venerable generational relics and symbols, encapsulating cultural identity and artistic legacies. The paper concludes that the disuse of traditional method of wood conservation does not match the actual importance of traditional knowledge system. In the alternative, recommendation follows.
