The horror unleashed by this group has continued to escalate from the northeast Nigeria into Cameroon, Chad, and Niger, posing grave danger to regional stability. Since 2009 to 2023, more than 93,000 lives have been lost with 2.6 million others displaced. In response to this menance, the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) was reactivated by countries of the Lake Chad Basin and Benin in 2012, with the mandate of 'eradicating Boko Haram threats'. However, not until January, 2015 that the AU Peace and Security Council formally authorized the deployment of 8500 troops for an initial renewable period of 12 months but despite the presence of this coalition forces, the sect has continued to adopt different tactics and strategies to perpetrate terror.
