Abstract:
Shoulder dislocation in its erect form is a rare variety and represents 0.5% of all shoulder dislocations. Few cases have been reported, and the outcome of treatment has been poorly defined. Between 2020 and 2022, 04 patients with erecta dislocation were evaluated in our training. These are 04 men with an average age of 34.7 years. The right shoulder was dislocated in 04 cases, and the mechanism was direct in 04 patients. The shoulder attitude was typical in all cases with an upper limb in forced abduction, arms in the air and the impossibility of bringing the elbow back to the body. No vascular disorder was noted, however, nerve damage was found in 01 cases with a simple progression. The frontal x-ray of the shoulder revealed an inferior dislocation of the humeral head and a diaphyseal axis above the horizontal in 03 cases and 01 or the dislocation and associated with a cephalo-tuberosity fracture in our observations. The treatment consisted of a reduction under general anesthesia followed by a Dujarier type bandage for three weeks. The erecta type shoulder dislocation constitutes the typical form of lower dislocation, its mechanism is a fall on the upper limb in great abduction or antepulsion. The clinical diagnosis is easy, confirmed by frontal x-ray of the shoulder. The long-term functional prognosis is excellent.
