Abstract:
The pelvic location of the ovaries, their embryological origin and their vascular-lymphatic system make the ovary a particularly metastatic organ in the course of tumor pathologies, with high morbidity and mortality. Ovarian tumors are often discovered late (1, 4, 5, 15, 16, 17, ). The physiological lymphatic drainage pathways of the ovary play a vital role in the metastatic dissemination of ovarian cancer. This drainage system remains the most complex and poorly understood, and the management of malignant ovarian tumors depends on it. Lymphoradiology has made it possible to elucidate lymphatic circulation. This has helped practitioners and researchers to understand the evolution of malignant ovarian tumors (1, 2, 3,4, 5, 7, 14, 19,20). In this work, we discuss the role of the lymphatic system in the prognosis of ovarian tumors and explain why certain digestive and biliary tumors can metastasis to the ovary. This last aspect poses the problem of determining the primary or secondary origin of ovarian tumors. AIM OF THE STUDY. Firstly, the aim is to provide practitioners with an informed knowledge of the lymphatic drainage system of the ovary and, it's drainage territory. Secondly, it is to enable clinical, radiological and surgical exploration of the organs or regions most at risk of metastasis in ovarian tumors.
