Abstract:
Introduction: Desmoid tumors are benign soft tissue tumors known for their infiltrative nature, particularly challenging when located in the cervicofacial region due to associated morbidity. Managing these tumors poses significant challenges. Clinical Cases: We present two cases involving pediatric patients. The first case involves a 4-year-old girl with a desmoid tumor affecting the mandibular corpus and the right ascending branch, infiltrating locally and regionally. Treatment included surgical resection of the tumor with hemi-mandibulectomy followed by reconstruction using the Masquelet technique. The second case involves a 17-month-old infant with a tumor affecting the sternocleidomastoid muscle, treated with surgical resection achieving negative surgical margins. Conclusion: Traditional treatment typically involves wide local excision with negative surgical margins. However, in pediatric cases, consideration of alternative therapeutic approaches is essential to avoid extensive surgical interventions.
