Abstract:
Mondor disease is a rare condition, because it is ignored or underestimated, benign and self-limiting, without complications or after-effects. It is a rare superficial venous thrombophlebitis. Fewer than 400 cases have been reported in the literature. Although it is part of the nosological framework of venous thromboembolic diseases, the emboligenic risk of Mondor disease is almost zero. This condition poses two types of problems: * the histological nature of the affected vessel. * the causal relationship of underlying breast cancer. The diagnosis of this pathology is essentially clinical; paraclinical explorations have no specificity. The origin is idiopathic in half of the cases. The spontaneous evolution is constantly favorable and recurrences are possible in 5% of cases. The association with breast cancer varies from 1.8 to 12.4%; therefore, underlying breast neoplasia is systematically sought.
