Abstract:
: Tracheobronchial foreign bodies present a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency that can be life-threatening. It is a frequent occurrence in children. In adults, it remains dominated by inhalation of the scarf pin when wearing the veil, particularly in Islamic countries, where it is a veritable scourge. The clinical presentation is dominated by a highly diagnostic syndrome known as the penetration syndrome, a feature that often leads patients to prompt treatment, although it can sometimes be missed or neglected. Therapeutic management is based primarily on medical treatment, including bronchial endoscopy. Surgery may be useful in cases where the initial medical treatment fails, in specialized centers, if the tracheobronchial foreign bodies is landlocked, or leads to pleuropulmonary sequelae.
