Abstract:
: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a relatively common disease predominantly affecting women of childbearing age. Our study reports a case of the association between systemic lupus erythematosus and pregnancy gathered at our service. After a review of the disease, we consulted recent literature to illustrate the reciprocal effects of the association between lupus and pregnancy. According to the authors, fertility is not affected in lupus patients; therefore, the frequency of the association between lupus and pregnancy is considerable. Complications of lupus pregnancy affect both the mother and the child, with women most at risk being those with pre-existing renal involvement and active disease lesions at conception. Fetal loss rates are higher if there is an associated anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome. Prematurity remains challenging to control. Neonatal lupus syndrome is linked to the presence of anti-Ro antibodies. Pregnancy in lupus women should be considered high-risk, and conception should be planned during a period of remission. Close monitoring and adequate therapeutic management are necessary for optimal disease control and to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.
