Abstract:
Nowadays, there is more and more research dealing with the nutrition of athletes and physically active people in general, and there is an increasing number of supplementation that appears in various forms. Considering the higher energy consumption, physically active people also have increased nutritional requirements. In addition to other important factors for practicing sports, such as good health and physical predisposition, adequate nutrition is a fundamental component. A well-balanced ratio of macro- and micronutrients and adequate hydration can significantly improve sports performance and play a key role in achieving the best possible results. An athlete's diet must be well planned and individually adapted based on body characteristics, tendency to gain weight or lose weight, frequency, length and intensity of training. An optimally designed nutrition program, with realistic and achievable goals, which follow well-planned training, is the basis for successful sports.
