Abstract:
Gait disorders are common. The age of independently walking varies from 10 to 18 months, and therefore a walking delay is said to occur after 2 years. Some gait disorders are common and transient but others may reveal congenital neurologic impairment or a serious degenerative situation responsible for a balance disorder, muscle weakness, or coordination disorders. Sometimes a neglected orthopedic disorder such as LCH can explain the gait disorder. Complete neurological examination is necessary to ascertain normal psychomotor development or to diagnose neurological or orthopedic disease. Through this observation we report the case of a neglected congenital hip dislocation revealed following a gait disorder in a girl at the age of 3 years seen in a pediatric neurology consultation.
