Abstract:
The definition of postpartum urinary retention (PUR) is not consensual, it is an underrecognized phenomenon that can occur in the immediate postpartum period, the physiological changes of the urinary tract in pregnant women as well as uterine distension may contribute to PUR , as well as labor by different mechanisms. Partial PUR is more likely to go undiagnosed. Nationally accepted guidelines are lacking, therefore management protocols differ from one center to another. Prevention is essential, education is important, as the consequences can be fatal , we report the case of a patient who consult for abdominal pain after vaginal delivery
