Abstract:
This article provides a comprehensive review of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in Africa, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in the region. The article examines the legal frameworks, enforcement mechanisms, and cultural and economic factors that shape IPRs in Africa. Despite progress in establishing legal frameworks, challenges persist in enforcing IPRs, particularly in the areas of piracy and counterfeiting. However, emerging opportunities in digital innovation and creative industries offer promise for promoting IPRs in Africa. The article recommends harmonized legal frameworks, effective enforcement mechanisms, and increased awareness and education to unlock Africa's full potential in innovation and creativity
