Abstract:
The research investigated advancements in the evaluation of employee performance and the provision of services by academic staff at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The study aimed to assess the correlation between electronic performance appraisal feedback and service quality at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Additionally, it aimed to determine the relationship between electronic performance appraisal communication and employee engagement at the same university. The study was led by two research questions and two hypotheses. The study used a survey research design. The research used the New Public Management (NPM) theory, which was introduced by Hood in 1991, as its theoretical foundation. The survey included a population of 2483 academic personnel from the institution. A sample size of 333 was obtained using Krejcie and Morgan's statistical method. The study used purposive sampling as the chosen sample strategy. The necessary data for the research were gathered using a questionnaire tool. The analysis of data included the use of both inferential and descriptive statistics. The acquired data were organised into frequency tables and analysed using percentages and mean scores. The hypotheses were checked using the Pearson's Product Moment Correlation at a significance level of 0.05, using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20. The analysis findings indicate that electronic performance appraisal feedback is strongly correlated with service quality, and electronic performance appraisal communication is strongly correlated with employee engagement at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The research suggests promoting the use of electronic/online performance assessment in university.
