Abstract:
This research paper investigated the implications of China's rise and its implications for the United States of America. The research problem addressed in this study is the need to understand the potential consequences of China's growing economic and military power for the United States' position in the international system. The research question is how China's rise affects the international system's balance of power and dynamics, and what the implications are for the United States. This study employs a qualitative research methodology, using a literature review and analysis of secondary sources. The theoretical framework of this study is power transition theory which posits that the international system is shaped by the distribution of power among its actors. It emphasizes the importance of power and self-interest in shaping international relations. One of the key findings of this research is that China's rise is challenging the dominance of the United States in the international system and is altering the balance of power in favour of China. As a result, the United States needs to re-evaluate its foreign policy and strategic approach towards China. The summary of the recommendations from this study is that the United States should engage in strategic competition with China while also seeking opportunities for cooperation, to manage the risks and opportunities posed by China's rise.
