Abstract:
The study examined the effect of participation in UWEP on women economic empowerment in Kisoro and Kabale districts. It adopted a pragmatism paradigm and cross sectional survey research design. A sample size of 255 was used to provide quantitative data. Data was analysed using descriptive and regression analyses with the help of Statistical Package for Social Scientists. The study findings revealed that participation in UWEP had positive significant effects on women economic empowerment. The study concluded that participation has significant positive effects on women economic empowerment. The study recommended that UWEP management must foster a supportive and inclusive environment essential for enhancing women participation and empowerment. This includes creating a safe space that promotes open communication and active involvement. Furthermore, establishing effective monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress is crucial, along with publishing periodic progress reports that highlight achievements and challenges specific to women, ensuring equal opportunities for participation.
