Abstract:
Femicide, as a specific form of violence against women, refers to murders that are motivated by hatred, contempt or feelingsownership of the female sex. This paper investigates preventive measures to combat femicide, with an emphasis on legal, institutional, educational and social aspects. Key legal frameworks are analyzed, including international standards such as the Istanbul Convention, as well as national legislative measures that contribute to the protection of women. In addition to the legal framework, the paper looks at the role of institutions, such as the police and centers for social work, in recognizing and responding to the risks of femicide. Special attention is paid to education and raising awareness among experts and the general public, as key elements of prevention. Through a comprehensive analysis, the paper highlights the need for an integrated approach in the fight against femicide, which includes cooperation between different sectors of society. Through examples and case studies, insight into successful prevention models is provided and areas requiring further improvement are identified. The results of this research indicate the importance of continuous education, the strengthening of legal mechanisms and the improvement of institutional cooperation as key factors in the prevention of femicide. Additionally, the paper emphasizes the importance of specialized training for professionals who work with victims of violence, as well as the need for a more efficient system of collecting and analyzing data on femicide. It is also recommended to introduce stricter sanctions for perpetrators, as well as to expand support programs for surviving victims. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the work shows that the prevention of femicide is only possible through comprehensive and coordinated efforts at all levels of society.
