Abstract:
The National Education Policy 2020 of India (NEP 2020) is a significant turning point in Indian educational institutions, aiming to transform the national education landscape. One of the critical aspects of the policy is the emphasis on quality academic research. This article critically examines the NEP 2020 provisions for enhancing quality academic research in India by developing an approach called Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis. The NEP 2020 presents opportunities for holistic approaches and multidisciplinary focus but also faces threats like funding constraints, brain drain, and resistance to changes. By examining NEP 2020 through SWOT analysis, stakeholders can identify critical areas for improvement and formulate strategies to maximize its potential for fostering quality academic research. The article also highlights the importance of research integrity, international collaboration, and the need for a culture of quality research in Indian institutions. Appropriate suggestions are made for improvements to make it more effective.
