Abstract:
This study explored the positive effects of peer pressure on their social development. Hence, this study provided an analysis of the factors that influenced Grade 11 academic strands: HUMSS (Humanity and Social Sciences) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) ABM (Accountancy and Business Management) GAS (General Academic Strand) students in their social development and to analyze the experiences of the Grade 11 academic strands students. This study was a qualitative case study in which the researchers' employed questionnaires and interviews to investigate 11 academic strands students' perceptions and experiences with positive peer pressure. The sample population of this research was composed of 1 student in each academic strands. The results implicated many positive effects of peer pressure on the social development of academic strands, but the school environment, peer relationships, community and cultural influence, personal traits, extracurricular activities, sex, age, and emotional development are the primary elements influencing the social development of Grade-11 Academic strand learners. The findings of this study may then serve as a fundamental basis mainly to those Academic Strand learners.
