Abstract:
Lumajang has various types of arts and cultures that are still ongoing today, for example the Dril Lumajang Dance which is a traditional art typical of Lumajang. The Dril Lumajang Dance is a form of acculturation of Javanese and Madurese cultures in the movements and musical accompaniment that accompanies the Dril Lumajang dance. Mrs. Dwi Swarsiningsih as a Dril Dance artist has succeeded in innovating the Tayub Dance artwork into the Tayub Lumajangan Dance called the Dril Dance. The Dril Dance is packaged into a traditional dance that combines two Javanese and Madurese cultures in the form of dance movements, accompanying music, clothing developments and artistic functions of the Dril Lumajang Dance at the Palupi Lumajang Dance Studio. The beginning of the existence of this art as an entertainment dance for the nobles in the palace area to entertain the kings and to welcome guests at the Palace and was used as a celebratory dance after the big harvest. In 1990 the Dril Lumajang Dance reappeared at the Palupi Dance Studio after its vacuum as a performance dance.
