Abstract:
The emergence of digital transmutation has given rise to an authentic form of crime : cybercrime, which refers to all criminal activities using information and communication technologies, such as computers or the Internet, to commit crimes such as data theft, online fraud, computer hacking, etc. It is in this perspective that this article finds its foundation. It gives the psychology of social engineering, not in its entirety, but while doing an analysis on phishing which, is a form of cyber attack where malicious individuals impersonate trusted entities, such as financial institutions or popular online platforms, in order to deceive users and extract personal information such as login credentials, credit card numbers or bank details. This technique, in the case of social platforms, is often based on fraudulent emails, instant messages, or websites designed to appear legitimate. Phishing is a serious threat, which is not just a personal matter, because while the potential impact on an ordinary user is significant, a successful phishing against an administrative account can compromise an entire server, resulting in the complete takeover of an entire institution. The article will then be able to explain how this attack is carried out and will end up giving some preventive measures.
