Abstract:
The study investigated the effects of video lessons to the academic achievement of Grade 12 learners in the subject Understanding Culture, Society and Politics. The researcher conducted the study during the school year 2023-2024 in a public national high school in the province of Bukidnon, Philippines. The participants of the study were 60 grade 12 HUMSS learners. A quasi-experimental research design was used in the study. The researcher used two intact heterogenous classes in the study. The participants of the study were 30 learners for the experimental group and 30 learners for the control group. A total of 60 learners participated in the study. For the experimental group learners were exposed in the video lessons, while the learners in the control group were exposed in the conventional classroom teaching in the subject Understanding Culture, Society and Politics. The data gathered using the researcher made academic achievement test were analyzed and interpreted using the standardized statistical methods. Mean, standard deviation, and one-way analysis of covariance was used in the study. Findings revealed that the academic achievement of grade 12 learners in the subject Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics taught using video lessons is "Satisfactory"; while learners exposed to the conventional classroom teaching is "Fairly Satisfactory". There was a significant difference in the academic achievement in Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics between the experimental and control group.
