Abstract:
Given the digital age's challenge of audience fragmentation, broadcasting firms must innovate to stay competitive. Consequently, this study explored the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and employee innovativeness within broadcasting firms in Rivers State, Nigeria. The research focused on how entrepreneurial leadership, characterized by proactive behavior and risk-taking, influences employees' generation, testing, and implementation of ideas. Data were collected from on-air personalities (OAPs) across sixteen radio and TV stations in Rivers State, using validated instruments. Four hypotheses were tested using Spearman Rank order Correlation Coefficient. The findings indicate that entrepreneurial leadership significantly fosters employee innovativeness, suggesting that fostering such leadership can enhance innovation in broadcasting firms. The study concluded that broadcasting firms can enhance their innovative capabilities by promoting entrepreneurial leadership styles. Thus, it was recommended that managers and executives in the broadcasting industry should invest in leadership development programs that emphasize entrepreneurial skills to drive sustained innovation.
