Abstract:
This article examines the nature of concepts and terms through a cognitive approach, focusing on how they function as essential components of human thought and language. Concepts are mental representations that allow us to categorize and interpret the world, while terms serve as their linguistic counterparts, enabling communication and knowledge transfer. By drawing on cognitive science, linguistics, and psychology, this study explores the formation, evolution, and use of concepts and terms, highlighting the processes involved in their organization and retrieval. The cognitive approach reveals how mental structures influence language, how words shape our understanding of reality, and how concepts and terms evolve in response to cultural and contextual factors. This exploration offers deeper insights into the dynamic interaction between thought and language, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of cognition and communication.
