Abstract:
This study explores the views and experiences of junior high school students participating in "Project Speak Up," an initiative by the English Club of Parada National High School aimed at improving English communication skills. Using a phenomenological qualitative design, the research involved 12 Grades 9 and 10 students selected based on participation and teacher recommendations. Findings reveal overwhelmingly positive feedback, with students valuing the project for fostering self-expression, confidence, and language development. Participants described the experience as enjoyable and impactful, noting improvements in fluency, vocabulary, and grammar. Challenges such as initial hesitation were mitigated by peer encouragement and a supportive environment. "Project Speak Up" successfully provided a platform for personal and linguistic growth, reinforcing the importance of practice beyond the classroom and showcasing its potential as a replicable model for enhancing English proficiency among students.
